As we all know Social Media has quickly been becoming a global phenomenon over the past few years, pretty much everyone has a profile on some sort of social site. The vast majority of people are using these facilities to merely stay in touch on the go, allowing them to maintain their relationships, virtually. But what if you want more from your’ facebook & twitter; do you want to create yourself an online platform from which you can develop and expand your’ personal or business empire and branch out to new heights…we certainly do.

Here on Alpine Guru we’ll be giving you tips every week on how you can best utilise your social media to your and your businesses advantage.

Start by picking the most relevant social media for you personally or your business. Where are your friends and where are your consumers? Are they on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter or using Digg & Stumbleupon? Perhaps they are on all of them, we are!

Get on these sites and start exploring, you may find it all a little much logging into so many sites each day, but you don’t need to it all the time; if you’re using social media for growing your businesses social empire then start by downloading Digsby from www.digsby.com and you’ll be able to manage email, social media and instant messaging all from one portal. If you’re looking to expand your personal communication capacity and stay in touch then Ping.Fm is for you, www.pingfm.com

Remember to think before you post though, although you can send out the same messages accross your media empire make sure to think whether the message is consistent with the desires of your target audience on each of those sites. These are great tools for sending out consistent messages but also make sure to tailor specifics to each site!

Make sure to check back next week for more clues on how you can be a social media guru.
