Easter on the slopes
Hop along to the slopes and celebrate in style this Easter at one of the following ski resorts which offer fun for all the family and luxury chalets to boot.
Where better to celebrate Easter than in the home of sumptuous Swiss chocolate. From 11-13 April, children can make their very own Easter Bunny with liquid chocolate and a mould and if they still haven’t had their fill then don’t miss the Easter Egg hunt with resort mascot Wolli, a cuddly black nose mountain sheep, on Easter Sunday.
Courchevel has plenty of entertainment on offer, particularly for the chocoholics among us. The action kicks off on 15th April with an Easter Party for all the family followed by The Enchanting Stroll, a short night walk accompanied by some ‘unusual’ characters and an Easter Egg hunt. On Easter Sunday you will have the chance to search for 9,000 Easter eggs hidden around the resort in Le Praz, Grangettes, Ariondaz, Jardin Alpin, Verdons and perhaps a gondola or two.
If you have a sweet tooth then you will love Verbier’s Gourmet Workshop For Children which takes place on the 15th April. Learn how to make anything from chocolate confectionary and cream puffs to candy floss – our taste buds are already tingling! The best news is that all children must be accompanied by an adult – what a chore! An Easter Egg hunt takes place from 9am on the Sunday in which five different coloured eggs must be collected, plus everyone can contribute to the big drawing of the Easter bunnies.
Early risers on Easter Sunday will be able to enjoy the Sunrise On-Mountain Easter Service. At 6am ride the Quicksilver SuperChair at the base of Peak 9 up to a special location where you can take part in a free service in a spectacular mountain setting. There is also an obligatory egg hunt in the morning with eggs hidden all over Peaks 8 and 9.
From the 14-16 April, Vail ends the season with a bang with its Spring Back to Vail festival. Now into its 15th year, this extremely popular event attracts the crowds with free live concerts, parties and multiple giveaways. The festival also hosts the World Pond Skimming Championships with skimmers gathering from far and wide to test their buoyancy on Lake Golden Peak – certainly a unique way to celebrate the Easter weekend.
