Finding the right chalet for a holiday en-famille can be a daunting prospect – is it near the nursery slopes? Do they have in-house childcare? Tivoli Lodge in Davos not only has a beyond cute bunk-room with three custom bunk beds for up to six and there’s also a giant ball pit / soft playroom. It has to be one of the top ten properties for entertaining both adults and children in the Alps.
Sophisticated Chalet Nyumba in Verbier is another top choice for families – with cosy alpine furnishings it really feels like a luxury home away from home. There’s a cinema room with projector screen where little kids (and big kids) can watch their favourite movies with surround sound as well as a playroom complete with designer toys and a tipi. All of the bedrooms are really luxurious and again there’s a bunk room with hand-crafted beds where children can snuggle in for the night. Nyumba also has a spa with an ‘L’ shaped swimming pool. The pool is 1.5 deep however the depth can be adjusted by the team in resort for toddlers and small children.

If you have small children who are learning to ski for the first time then it makes sense to be in a property that is close to the nursery slopes or has a driver service.
Treize Etoiles is a five bedroom apartment in central Verbier and is just a short stroll from the Moulins nursery slope where there’s also a creche. It’s also possible to hire a dedicated nanny with the property who will be available up to eight hours per day of your trip.
The Chalet, at 11º East is located right next to the nursery slopes in the heart of Obergurgl and you can literally watch your children making their first turns down the slopes from the comfort of the chalets very own bar.
For those who prefer self-catering there are some great chalets such as Chalet Illimani in St Anton which provide large family living spaces, big bedrooms that can fit cots / small beds for youngsters who like to stay close and bunk / playrooms with toys. Illimani isn’t in the centre of the resort so it’s advisable to self-drive for convenience.
