Chaletneuf du Tenne is a luxury chalet of modern design that is situated above the charming resort of Châtel in the Portes du Soleil. From its elevated position, there are stunning views of the surrounding mountains, the Abondance valley and across the border to Switzerland. It is a two minute chauffeured drive to the nearest chairlift and it is possible to ski back from the Super Châtel ski area via an easy path.
Set over three floors and with a large sun terrace and furnished balconies, Chaletnuef du Tenne sleeps eight adults and up to six children and is a wonderful choice for extended family holidays or friends with children wishing to holiday together.
The interiors are bright and spacious and tastefully decorated in a warm, neutral tones. Quality fabrics and a mix of chic designer furnishings and antique pieces feature throughout to create a space that is stylish yet homely.
The open plan living and dining area is situated on the first floor and has a dual aspect fireplace which forms both a focal point and a natural divide between the lounge and the dining area. Floor to ceiling windows fill the room with light and offer magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. The dining table is set under a double height wood beamed ceiling and has a huge picture window framing the mountain views as well as sliding glass doors opening onto a balcony with outdoor dining furniture. This is a truly magical setting as dusk begins to fall and the twinkling lights of the resort below become visible. Adjacent to the lounge is a separate TV room with comfy sofas and a large, wall-mounted flatscreen TV. There is a professional kitchen just off the dining area and though separate, guests are very welcome to watch the chef prepare meals – the atmosphere is very relaxed.
A staircase leads to the top floor where there are two large master suites at the front of the property and two family family suites to the rear. The master suites have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers, sitting areas, balcony access with views down the valley and can be configured as kingsize doubles or twins. The family suites have ensuite bathrooms with large, deep bathtubs, sitting areas and, in the main bedroom, beds that can be configured as kingsize doubles or twins. Both suites have a children’s den able to sleep two or three children in each. Built using reclaimed wood, these annexes to the main bedrooms provide an ideal place for young children to sleep and play.
On the ground floor, there is a an indoor swimming pool equipped with jets and a contra-flow swim system. French windows open onto a furnished sun terrace and there is also a lounge area and games room with table tennis just off the entrance hall.
Chaletneuf du Tenne has WiFi internet, Sky and Apple TV and a ski storage room with boot heaters. Operated by a small, owner-run company, the emphasis is very much upon offering a balance between genuine hospitality, local insight and flexibility with a discreet and professional service.
