San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge is a sixteenth century maso (farmhouse) located in a now Italian but former Austrian region of South Tyrol – San Lorenzo di Sebato to be exact. It’s owned by Stefano and Giorgia, a prominent couple in the fashion industry whose infectious passion for the property and its surroundings will rub off on you in seconds.
such as underfloor heating being incorporated and subtly hidden by larch and stone. Carefully selected antiques, furs and artwork keep the lodge firmly tied to its roots as a South Tyrolean hunting lodge. The haute-couture couple have managed to keep the historical magic running throughout the chalet.
The open-plan lounge has a masonry fireplace along with a tea parlour and a traditional stübe – all great places to sit back and relax in. There’s also a ‘den’ for entertainment with a massive television.
The stübe doubles up as the breakfast and dining room and simply by stepping into the kitchen you’ll start to picture the local cuisine with lashings of porcini and alluring local flavours. The kitchen is original with the modern equipment one would expect with numerous pots and pans. Giorgia generally takes the helm when guests rent the property with the VIP package but you’re welcome to pop your head inside and learn some recipes.
San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge has four bedrooms, three of which are doubles, all with lovely views over the mountains or meadows. Two of the doubles have en-suite bedrooms and the third shares a bathroom with the fourth and final bedroom, which is a double bunk room ideal for the young ones.
The lodge has a whirlpool in the garden which is perfect for late night dips, overlooked by the jagged mountains that surround the property with the lights of the town in the distance.
